Seasons Greeting
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and setting up for a Happy New Year?
We are down on Hayling Island staying with our daughter and son in law and their two cats Ted and Charlie. Jaime's parents have joined us traveling over from Wales. We will be here till the 15th of January as Celena and Jaime are off following the sun for 11 days, we will be on Cat Watch, photos to follow, fingers crossed we don't loose one. They are house cats, all very strange to me, two grey/blue Persian's great fun, but they don't go outside to play.
Alot of people ask where is Hayling Island and do you catch a ferry? no the island is linked with a bridge to the mainland, see the photo below. Facing south, to the right you a have Portsmouth and to the left Chichester. The island has a population of 17,000 as of 2011, there has been and increase in housing so there could be a few more 1000. The main employment is in tourism, there are 3 major holiday resort park open right through out the year.
During the summer months more caravan and camping grounds open all offer quality facilities. You have a choice of good restaurants and pubs catering for all taste's.
The Langstone Bridge built in 1956 link Hayling Island with the mainland and town of Havant.
